I think Southern France expereinces one week of winter per year and - it's here! This morning I woke up to a light, damp snow and quickly wrapped the camera up in a plastic bag and headed out to take photos.
I figured I should seize the day because this could be the only snow of 2012! I explored the deep center of my village - where most of the buildings are eerily abandoned. Shutters open, gaping holes in thick stone walls, the electrical lines indicating these houses have not been used in decades. Some houses you can peer inside and see light fixtures still hanging in a living room. It's fantastic!
I wish I could go in the buildings, but they are barracaded like Fort Knox, so I will remain peering through the bars wondering what the city was like when people inhabited the heart of Marignane.
